Over 3 years MAV will facilitate Out of the Box, a new intercultural arts network to develop and connect cultural workers and artists of colour in Shepparton, Bendigo and online.
The network will enable regional artists of colour to demonstrate diverse forms of cultural production, consumption and dissemination, and will build skills, knowledge and opportunities for cultural activation that reflects a contemporary, multicultural vision for regional Victoria.
A Cultural Facilitator will work alongside emerging young digital content producers drawn from our partners' Loddon Campaspe Multicultural Services (Bendigo) and POD Studio (Shepparton) networks, to support artists in developing self-determined representations of their creative practice through digital media including artist profiles, storytelling (podcasts, videos, written case studies, photographs) and media reviews.
MAV will partner with Feral Arts to facilitate access to Arts Front as a platform for sharing artists' profiles and content online and presenting an annual series of curated, live streamed artist talks, that explore and disseminate practice and innovations, unpack challenges, and create opportunities for cultural innovation and exchange. Out of the Box will renew confidence, build sustainability for regional artists of colour, and develop new models of learning and practice that can shape systemic responses to diversity and inclusion.
