FABnyc is a team of artists and organizers working to preserve, sustain, and grow the cultural vibrancy of the Lower East Side neighborhood.
FABnyc’s mission is to strengthen the cultural vitality of the Lower East Side. We implement this mission through a range of programs and collaborations with local cultural organizations, independent artists, community-based organizations and neighborhood nonprofits. We work as cultural producers, facilitators, and organizers with an ongoing interest in how arts and culture can advance community health, inclusiveness, and equity.
FABnyc was founded in 2001 by a coalition of cultural and community nonprofits on East 4th Street to save their homes. Today our commitment to sustaining the cultural character and diversity of the community extends across the LES: from 14th Street to Canal, from Bowery to the East River.

NOCD-NY is doing a participatory action research project supported by the Mellon Foundation to learn about the role of community cultural hubs and networks.
