Kensington, Brooklyn: Kensington Cultural Council (KCC) is a neighborhood network of small cultural organizations partnering with local businesses and community groups serving diverse South Asian and Latinx immigrant communities. Though lacking formal arts infrastructure, Kensington has vital artist communities activating public plazas, and partnering with neighborhood schools.
Our research can help KCC map and better understand connections between artists/culture bearers, public spaces, small businesses, and community activism and learn how proactive public policies can support this diverse NOCD in a manner that strengthens its organic leadership.
