Ruth is a Co-Director of Curious Arts Inc. a not for profit organisation behind the development of the Curious Arts Festival, an initiative in collaboration with Kirsten Batholomew (Expressions Dance Company, Brisbane Writers Festival). The first Curious Arts Festival was presented in 2019 with the second in planning for 16-22 March 2020.

As a Creative Producer, she is a partner in RAVA Productions (with Alison Vallette) and has produced two successful seasons in 2018 and a 2019 tour of the children’s work Charlotte’s Web. She is Chair of the South-West Queensland Regional Arts Services Network (RASN) Advisory Group.

Ruth was Director at the Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts (2008-2016), where she founded the Fresh Ground artist-in-residence program aimed at the development of contemporary performances by Queensland artists. Over 7 years, Fresh Ground supported more than 650 artists and 90 arts productions. Her career began in directing television productions and radio programming before segueing to performing arts tour management for the Northern Australian Regional Performing Arts Centres Association (now Stage Queensland). Her career continued in arts marketing, venue programming and event management with roles at Empire Theatre Toowoomba and at QUT Garden’s Theatre and Art Museum.

She holds an MBA and Post Graduate qualifications in Arts and Cultural Management from Uni SA and a Bachelor of Business (Marketing) from CQU.

Ruth is Managing Director/Owner of Visual Focus, an audio-visual integration and event production company based in Toowoomba.
