CathMac Headshot Square CrackX

I'm an emerging performer and maker. I've been living/training in Sydney for the past three years - after receiving my BA. Performance from the University of Wollongong. However, have started the transition back to the region of Orange NSW, which is where I grew up. I'm interested in diversifying the theatre-going demographic in this country. I want theatre spaces to bring more people into the fold and perhaps be sites of national healing, which I think we vitally need as a society. I work as a performing arts facilitator for people with disabilities. I'm determined to continue making inclusive art and advocating for artists with disability.

I'm interested in being part of Arts Front U30 because I want to stop bemoaning the state of the arts and be an active part of the change. I want to discuss and work with others in order to be more productive and focussed in the works I make and actions I take.

I'm also presenting a work at Crack X called 'DEB' which is loosely a Debutante Ball, but designed to bring Aussies together in a search for meaningful rites of passage. In a privileged Western society that sometimes drifts into the superficial, egotistical, highly-fearful realms of politics/life, I would like to help forge opportunities for people to gather in a real and vulnerable way. A way that calls bullshit on the hate-speak that the people in power impose on us. A way that helps people connect at a deep, immovable level, to then go and perform powerful actions together in society.
