
Anna Lena Phillips Bell is the author of Ornament, winner of the Vassar Miller Poetry Prize, and the chapbook Smaller Songs, from St. Brigid Press. Her work appears in 32 Poems, the Southern Review, Subtropics, A Literary Field Guide to Southern Appalachia, and elsewhere. Her artist’s books, including Charms for Hemlock and A Pocket Book of Forms, have been included in exhibitions at Abecedarian Gallery and Asheville Bookworks. She teaches in the creative writing department at UNC Wilmington, where she is editor of Ecotone and Lookout Books, and calls ungendered Appalachian square dances in North Carolina and beyond.
