
Andrew Styan is a visual artist and PhD candidate at the University of Newcastle researching new approaches for promoting across a broad audience a better engagement with social and ecological issues. Building on a former career as a metallurgist in the steel industry and lifelong interests in science and photography, his practice uses coding, data visualisation, interactivity, and mechatronics to create installations that are noted for their ability to make complex issues visible.
He is a Harold Schenberg Fellow, European Commission STARTS prize nominee and recent contributor to the Experimenta Make Sense International Triennial of Media Art.
