REVEIL 2019 – International Dawn Chorus Day

REVEIL 2019 – International Dawn Chorus Day - 5 May - 5.00am - 8.00am

Arts Front Eudlo Creek Project

Montessori International College (MIC) - Sunshine Coast, Queensland.

Reveil is a global arts project and international web broadcast that relays the sounds of live microphones tracking sunrise in multiple locations across the planet.

Starting just before daybreak in Rotherhithe near the Greenwich Meridian in the UK, the Reveil broadcast will pick up these feeds one by one, tracking the sunrise west from microphone to microphone, following the wave of intensified sound that loops the earth every 24 hours at first light.

In 2019, Eudlo Creek on the Sunshine Coast will join this exciting global streaming event with the installation of a live microphone in the beautiful rainforest at Montessori International College (MIC) on Kabi Kabi Country. This work is being produced by Sunshine Coast sound artist Leah Barclay as part of Arts, Creativity and Education Futures a new program being developed in partnership with the Montessori International College.

The Eudlo Creek Project responds to the cultural and biological diversity of Eudlo Creek and its interconnected wetlands and rainforest, bringing together art, science, technology and First Nations cultural heritage through the lens of acoustic ecology and environmental education.

How to get involved!

There are a few different ways to be part of the International Dawn Chorus Day Event at Montessori International College. Warningthey all involve setting your alarm and waking up early on a Sunday morning!!

  • You can stop in bed and listen in to the official Reveil Project audio stream online: (http://www.soundtent.org/soundcamp_listen.html). The broadcast from Eudlo Creek begins at 5.49am and will switch to the next location at 6.13am.
  • You can also follow all the action via a live video stream of the Eudlo Creek Dawn Chorus event being presented by Feral Arts on the Arts Front website:
  • If you really want to get down and dirty you are invited to register as an onsite listener and join us at the MIC campus for an intimate dawn listening experience. This free Arts Front event will include a cultural performance with First Nations artists Lyndon Davis and Brent Miller from Gubbi Gubbi Dance.

Please note:

Onsite listeners must be at the MIC campsite and ready to listen to the dawn stream in silence before the Eudlo Creek stream starts at 5.49am. The gates at MIC will be closed at 5.15am and if you arrive after that time, unfortunately you won't be able to join the event. Onsite listeners should bring picnic blankets, water, coffee, snacks, insect repellent!!! and if its wet - an umbrella!
