Townsville

In 2020 due to the COVID-19, South East Queensland Mabo Day Celebrations are going virtual. As we pay respect to Eddie Mabo's Legacy this year, we ask the questions -  where are we at today and how do we continue to celebrate, acknowledge and action the legacy of Eddie Mabo in the future. Busty Beatz and Nancy Bamaga will lead a conversation with Charles Passi and Edward Monaei

On June 3, 1992 – 28 years ago to the day – the High Court historically ruled that the lands of this continent were not terra nullius, overturning the 200 year old myth.

The Brisbane local Mabo Day event was brought into fruition by two Meriam Elders Mrs Nagai and Mrs Sama, from the Zillmere community in North Brisbane.
